Rigel Juratovac was born in Manhattan, NY in Greenich Village to a Korean Mother and Yugoslavian Father. RJ left for Korea when he was 2 years old and moved to San Francisco when he was 7. He has been in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area ever since. His interest in the graphics field happened around 1991 when he realized that alot of the older street artists were also designers and were working in the graphics field. He went to Al Collins Graphic Design School in Arizona and earned his degree. After coming back to San Francisco, he continued with several organizations learning the latest programs. Worked for Asianweek in 96-98, Inside Tennis Magazine and then Jobs and Careers (1999-2010) which he was a Graphic Supervisor and Art Director. While working at these respectable companies, he was also doing freelance work on the side.

I also go by the street name of “Crayone” and I am considered to be a Bay Area Graffiti Art Pioneer. I have been filmed and published many times, but my seminal exposure was a book called “SprayCan Art”, “Freight Train Graffiti”, “Graffito” and in a recent video documentary called “Piece By Piece”. To my peers I am known as a person who brought the use of intricate colors and skillful technique to my “spraycan art” pieces. My legendary crew called TWS (Together With Style) has brought world wide recognition and was known as the crew who invented New Wave. New Wave was an attempt at coining certain individuals who were trying to take spraycan art to the next level of technique, color and style.
